Deliveries have begun for the new HI version of the Arcfox Alpha S electric vehicle. The car was announced in April last year and has been jointly developed by Arcfox and Huawei.
Arcfox claimed that the new HI version Alpha S is the world’s first production sedan to come installed with Huawei’s HI full-stack intelligent automotive solution. This supports a high-level intelligent driving assistance system for city roads. It again is the first EV in the world to have a smart cockpit that is based on Harmony OS from Huawei and thus would carry the entire complement of smart and autonomous features developed by the phone company, and feature seamless docking between smartphones and cars.
According to the COO of Huawei’s Intelligent Automotive Solution Business Unit Wang Jun, the start of batch deliveries for the car marks just the beginning of the company showcasing some high-level functionality that the company would unlock through OTA in the future.
What is interesting is that the new HI version Arcfox Alpha S has backups in its sensors, batteries, CPU, braking, steering, and architecture. So when the main system is down, the backup system automatically takes over in a short time to ensure safety while driving. The autonomous driving system includes 400TOPs of computing power, 3 LiDAR sensors, six mmW radars, and 12 ultrasonic ones.
The car has an 800V high-voltage platform that improves charging speed and efficiency. The car is manufactured in Zhenjiang with assistance from Magna, a big name when it comes to car parts. The vehicle starts at a price of RMB 397,900 ($59,000 or $58,000). However, at the price, the customer gets only the highway autonomous driving and to enjoy the car in all its capacities customers would have to shell out RMB 429,900 ($63, 800 or $62,500).
