HTC released monthly operating data: consolidated operating income in October 2023 was NT$216 million, a month-on-month decrease of 64.1% and a year-on-year decrease of 29.35%; the cumulative consolidated operating income in the first ten months of this year was NT$3.434 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 1.85%.

Analysis company CCS Insight had previously predicted that due to reduced revenue and fierce competition, HTC is expected to withdraw from the VR industry by 2026 and sell its intellectual property rights to other large companies. HTC responded by stating that it “strictly denies these market rumours and predictions” and stated that HTC will continue to work with partners to promote the evolution and perfection of the XR, AI, Blockchain and VIVERSE ecosystem.

As early as around 2016, HTC began to deploy VR and founded the virtual reality brand VIVE. Later, it became the third largest VR equipment manufacturer in the world after Sony and Meta. However, HTC’s VR business has developed slowly in recent years.
