Hours before announcing 10,000 job cuts, Microsoft spends big on a 50-person, high-profile concert

According to the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft held a 50-person concert in Davos just hours before announcing 10,000 layoffs, with the famous British singer Sting playing for a large sum of money.

The cost of hosting such a private, professional concert can reach up to $1 million, so there is a lot of resentment among Microsoft employees who have been laid off.

Reports say the event, which featured a number of Microsoft executives, as well as key people from certain organizations, was an offline event for the World Economic Forum in Davos. The event was of a very high standard, with Sting, a famous British singer, being invited to perform at great expense.

A number of Microsoft’s top executives attended this year’s World Economic Forum. Nadella was interviewed on Tuesday at a panel at the Wall Street Journal, where he talked about the future of artificial intelligence. On Wednesday, he took the stage again to discuss the current challenges facing the technology industry and the need to improve productivity.

Employees also agreed that these events had been previously scheduled, but it was clearly inopportune for Microsoft to invite Sting to perform while laying off a lot of employees and spending that money in these inappropriate places.
