In recent times, 5.5G mobile communications has become a hot topic that has attracted much attention in the industry. Especially at the end of March, as China Mobile announced the official commercial use of 5G-A, phone manufacturers such as Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo have announced that they will enable 5.5G OTA push for their latest flagship phones.

Although Honor did not make an announcement, Honor China CMO Jiang Hairong confirmed in reply to a netizen’s question that the entire Honor Magic6 series already supports 5.5G technology, but there is no logo, and OTA updates will be pushed in the future.

The full name of 5G-A is 5G-Advanced, also known as 5.5G. It is a key stage in the evolution from 5G to 6G. Compared with 5G, the new generation of 5.5G technology surpasses all aspects in terms of speed, latency, connection scale and energy consumption, achieving a 10-fold improvement in network capabilities, and is expected to achieve peak speeds and millisecond-level latency of 10 Gigabit downlink and 1 Gigabit uplink , low-cost 100 billion IoT, and aerospace integration.

According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, my country had a total of 1.746 billion phone users from January to February; of which 5G users reached 851 million, accounting for nearly half, surpassing 4G users by nearly 100 million. In terms of traffic, as of the end of February, my country’s cumulative mobile Internet traffic reached 48.76 billion GB, of which 5G user access traffic increased by 59.8% year-on-year, accounting for 53.3%. It can be seen that 5G has become the main driving force for the growth of traffic usage.

Data shows that as of the end of February, the total number of 5G base stations in my country reached 3.509 million, accounting for nearly 30% of the total number of mobile base stations. my country’s 5G coverage and applications are continuing to be upgraded.
