Some time ago, Honda officially launched the third-generation Autonomous Work Vehicle.

Compared with the second generation launched more than a year ago, the new generation of automatic work vehicles has increased the load capacity from about 400kg to about 910kg. Its loading area is about the size of two pallets and is lower than before, making loading and unloading easier.

Moreover, the third-generation automatic driving speed is also faster than in the past, reaching about 16 kilometers per hour, moving faster than humans, and the cruising range is up to 45 kilometers when fully loaded.

And during driving, it can rely on the GPS, radar, LiDAR, camera and other components on the front pole to more accurately avoid obstacles and pass through “challenging” terrain.

In addition, the operator can control the vehicle remotely, Honda said: “Past field tests have successfully demonstrated that multiple Honda autonomous work vehicles can deliver building materials and supplies at precise locations along pre-determined routes.”

According to Honda, the third-generation autonomous work vehicle is ready to actually solve the industry’s labor shortage and worksite transportation problems. As for the cost issue, Honda is still working hard to commercialize it, but the specific landing time has not yet been determined.
