Honda releases Prologue pure electric SUV teaser video, clay model unveiled

In May this year, Honda released the first design sketches of the Prologue all-electric SUV. Yesterday, Honda released a teaser video of the pure electric SUV and showed the Prologue made of clay.

The video was shot at Honda’s design studio in California, and although the video does not show the actual Prologue, the full-size clay model shows the Prologue in its entirety. Compared to the previous design sketches, the Prologue in the video appears larger in size and has a larger glass area. But otherwise, the car is very similar to the design sketches.

It is worth mentioning that the car’s silhouette is almost identical to that of the Chevrolet Blazer EV, especially the triangular window design in the C-pillar is almost identical. The car also has the same regular handlebars as the Chevrolet Blazer EV.

Honda’s exterior designer Sang-Hyuk Ahn said that designing Honda’s first electric car gives the designer more freedom than designing a conventional internal combustion engine car and allows the designer to use his imagination, especially in the front of the vehicle. Meanwhile, the designer says it will shape the vehicle’s sporty proportions and stance with a longer wheelbase and shorter overhangs.

In addition, the video shows that the Prologue will be the first Honda vehicle designed primarily through virtual reality visualization technology, which will enhance collaboration between Honda’s design teams in the U.S. and Japan.

The all-electric SUV is based on GM’s Ultium electric platform and uses the same battery, electric control and electric drive technology as the Cadillac Lyriq, and is scheduled to be available in 2024 along with the all-electric Acura SUV.
