Honda announced that its models will adopt the NACS charging standard after 2024

Honda announced yesterday that it will adopt the North American Charging Standard (NACS), which is compatible with Tesla charging piles, for its models after 2024 to make it easier to utilize charging piles that use the appropriate standard.

It is reported that Tesla Motors has already laid a large number of supercharging piles based on the NACS standard around the world, so this news is actually good for Tesla, Tesla Motors has already released a posting on the X platform, claiming that “Honda is welcome to join the North American Tesla Supercharger family”.

Prior to the planned adoption of NACS, Honda has formed a joint venture with BMW, GM, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, and Stellantis to design a new charging standard called “CCS Combo (Combined Charging System)” and plans to build a global electric vehicle fleet based on this charging standard. The plan was to build a global EV charging network based on this charging standard, but the plan did not succeed due to various obstacles.

Honda plans to adopt the NACS charging standard for its new EVs after 2024, and Honda has committed to offering an adapter from the existing charging standard CCS Combo to NACS by 2025 so that existing models (and upcoming models like the Prologue) can be charged using the new charging posts.
