Honda and Mitsubishi sign agreement to promote the commercialization of EV

Honda recently announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Mitsubishi Corporation. The two parties will use the business models of the two companies to jointly study the commercialization of electric vehicles in Japan.

It is learned from Honda officials that the company plans to strengthen monitoring functions starting from micro EV batteries that will be launched in 2024, and manage their lifespan by transferring them from cars to stationary use, in an effort to maximize the value of the batteries. In addition, Honda will provide smart charging, V2G services and green power services to optimize the electricity costs of electric vehicle users through advanced control technology.

Honda said that in the future, the company will not only sell cars, but also actively strive to achieve battery-based energy management and resource recycling, including reusing car batteries that contain a large amount of scarce resources, to prepare for the full popularization of electric vehicles.

Honda also stated that it will work with various partners based on the market characteristics of each region to maximize customer value from a long-term perspective and build a sustainable business foundation.

Mitsubishi said it will work to create new cross-industry services aimed at building new business models to achieve electrification and decarbonization.
