Chip updates for the high-end MacBook Pro line and Mac mini are still expected to happen before the end of 2022, and a report reaffirms the rumors for these products. So far, the M2 processor-equipped lineup includes the 13-inch MacBook Pro and the revamped MacBook Air, but other chip changes are expected to be in development.

In Bloomberg’s “Power On” newsletter on Sunday, Mark Gurman discussed recent Apple financial results, inferring that the lower-than-expected Mac results were due to the launch of the new M2-equipped model. The delayed launch was due to “a significant sales hiatus” and therefore ate into revenue for the period.

Gurman was optimistic about a sales rebound in the upcoming fourth quarter, saying he sees a “big boost” in MacBook sales, adding that “Apple will gain more momentum from the new Mac mini and high-end MacBook Pro coming later this year,” and that Apple is expected to launch the Mac Pro, iMac and 15-inch MacBook Air in 2023. iMac and 15-inch MacBook Air.

Gurman’s comments echo his earlier assertion in mid-July that a MacBook Pro model with the M2 Pro and M2 Max would arrive in the fall. Previously in June, Gurman suggested that M2 Pro hardware, including the Mac mini, would appear next year.

Previous reports on the upcoming 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro updates suggested that the new products would be more focused on internal specification enhancements rather than seeing any major feature and design changes.
