Halo is rumored to drop its own engine and switch to Unreal Engine 5

0

Recently, many people broke the news that the “Halo” series may abandon the Slipspace engine and switch to Epic’s Unreal Engine. If this news is true, the next triple-A sequel to the Halo series will ditch the in-house engine in favor of Unreal Engine. In addition to “Halo”, there is another 3A-level masterpiece in the industry that does this, that is “The Witcher 4”.

Other than that, Flying Wild Hog had a similar experience. They abandoned their homemade Roadhog engine and will switch to Unreal Engine for future game productions.

Judging from the experience of “Halo: Infinite” (severe image quality and optimization problems), the Slipspace engine will come to an end, and the leading developer of this engine also left 343 in September of this year. The next Halo game might actually be developed in Unreal Engine 5.

343 Industries has not yet commented on this rumor, and we will continue to monitor it.
