Hackers peddle Twitter user data online, company responds it wasn’t leaked through system breach

0

According to reports, not long ago, hackers sold a large amount of Twitter data online, Twitter claims that there is no evidence that the data was obtained through the company’s system vulnerability.

In a blog post, Twitter said, “There is no evidence that the data sold online was obtained by hackers using a vulnerability in Twitter’s systems, and it is possible that the data was collected publicly and came from a different source.”

Twitter learned of the vulnerability early last year through a “bug catching program with a prize”. In August, Twitter told users that a vulnerability had compromised Twitter user accounts and that their email addresses and cell phone numbers had been stolen.

In December, it was reported that hackers may have gained access to more than 400 million email addresses and cell phone numbers associated with Twitter, data that was leaked through a vulnerability discovered in January 2022.
