Gurman: Apple won’t be pushing new Mac Studio anytime soon

According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple is unlikely to launch a Mac Studio with the M2 Ultra chip anytime soon.

In the latest edition of the “Power On” newsletter, Gurman revealed that Apple may wait until the M3 or M4 series chips are released to launch a new Mac Studio, or not update the Mac Studio product, due to the upcoming launch of the Mac Pro with the M2 Ultra chip, which has a very similar feature set to the Mac Studio. Studio, or not update the Mac Studio product line.

Rumors about the next-generation Mac Studio have been scarce so far, and last month, news broke that Apple had scaled back its plans for the first Apple Silicon Mac Pro, eliminating the “M2 Extreme” chip version. The new Mac Pro is expected to be offered only in the M2 Ultra chip version.

With the upcoming Mac Pro being less modular and similarly capable, it may indeed be better for Apple to delay updating the new Mac Studio until a new niche is found for it.
