GoPro Hero11 Black rendering exposed: new sensor can take 27 million photos

According to images and specs shared by German tech media outlet WinFuture.de, GoPro’s upcoming next-generation sports camera will not feature any major cosmetic changes. Sources say the GoPro Hero11 Black is similar in appearance to the Hero10 but will have very noticeable improvements inside.

The biggest improvement to the GoPro Hero11 Black is the introduction of a new sensor, which WinFuture reports can shoot 27-megapixel stills (the current Hero10 Black can shoot 23 megapixels). There are very few details about the new sensor, but even a larger sensor at the same resolution will allow for better performance in low-light conditions.

While there will be major internal upgrades, it will still feel familiar to users in terms of appearance. It does make sense: GoPro’s ecosystem of mounts and accessories is a big part of the company’s appeal, and the Hero9 changed quite a bit only two years ago, so GoPro was smart to stick with its basic shape.

Since the big change, last year was the processor, this year’s new sensor will fit into the upgrade path. So far, the leaked Hero11 images look identical to the Hero 10, except there’s a blue “11” on the side that used to have a “10”. (Because, you know, upgrade!) It still has a 2.27-inch screen on the back, a 1.4-inch screen on the front, big rubber buttons, and the overall feel of a GoPro.
