Google’s Pixel Fold 2 will be renamed Pixel 9 Pro Fold, to be released in October

Google seems to be interested in reshaping people’s impression of its foldable phones. The previously released Pixel Fold was supposed to have Pixel Fold 2 as a sequel, but the latest report from Android Authority says it has been renamed and the upcoming product will be called Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

In addition, as previously rumored, reports indicate that the device is not expected to be released at the Google I/O developer conference in May this year, but will be unveiled at Google’s new hardware launch in October. As a result, Google’s new product launch in October may be extremely lively. The company will launch four phones in one go: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL are iterative upgrades of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro respectively. The Pixel 9 Pro is said to have a compact body similar to the Pixel 9, but will still be equipped with the usual high-end configuration of the Pro series. It is reported that these four phones will be equipped with the upcoming Tensor G4 chip.

It is noticed that reports indicate that the decision to rename Pixel Fold 2 to Pixel 9 Pro Fold seems to be a recent decision by Google. Therefore, everything may still change before the new phone is officially released.
