Google YouTube TV begins testing its multi-view screen feature

Some Google YouTube TV users will be able to test long-awaited features of the Internet-based TV service. the official YouTube blog recently said that the multi-view feature will be available with limited early access, allowing some users to watch up to four TV channels on the screen at the same time.

The test will include a number of pre-selected channels that support the multi-view feature. Four of those channels will be CBS, TBS, TNT and TruTV, all of which will show NCAA basketball games, according to released screenshots. The NCAA basketball tournament is perfect for testing the multi-view feature.

The YouTube TV team extended a feature in the regular YouTube service that allows content creators to perform split-screen operations, allowing two views to be open at the same time. Over time, the multi-view feature will expand to more YouTube TV subscribers and allow them to select custom channels to watch later.

YouTube TV will have plenty of time to test the feature before the fall 2023 launch of NFL Sunday Ticket, which will allow subscribers to watch even more NFL games. Multi-view functionality will also be available in the standard YouTube service at some point in the future.
