Google Stadia unexpectedly announced shutdown, developers will try to rescue player data

0

Recently, Google, a pioneer in the cloud gaming industry, announced that it would officially shut down its cloud gaming service, Stadia, on January 18, 2023, and that players and developers were in an uproar after this unsuspecting announcement, with a large number of games scheduled to be released on the Stadia platform being altered and players facing the risk of hundreds of hours of archives being “lost. Players will also face the risk of hundreds of hours of archives being “wiped out”.

But the good news is that several developers have already announced that they will try to “rescue” players’ game data before the platform is shut down.

Currently, Ubisoft said that it will help all players who bought their games on the Stadia platform to migrate their purchased games and archived content to the PC platform.

Bungie also said on the official forums that it is discussing the problems that Destiny 2 players may encounter on Stadia and will notify players as soon as a plan of action is developed.

In addition, IOI, the developer of the Hitman series, also said on social media that it is studying how to relocate player accounts and archive data from Stadia.
