A new patent shows that Google is expected in the future Pixel Watch 3, for the watch case to bring interactive features.
Samsung previously applied in the Galaxy Watch series of watches in the rotating bezel and Apple in the Apple Watch application of digital crown, can allow users to get a certain positive feedback, but there are also some shortcomings at the same time, such as higher manufacturing costs, making the device more difficult to waterproof and so on.
And Google’s current strain sensor system proposed in the patent is expected to bring more possibilities for watch interaction, the relevant sensors will be embedded in the watch case, which will make the watch easier to waterproof, more durable, the user can press, tap, squeeze, slide the watch case, to interact.

The patent application is said to provide some examples of how strain gauge sensors could be used to control a smartwatch, such as allowing users to press the side of the watch to play or pause music, tap the top of the watch to open a specific app, squeeze the side of the watch to zoom in and out of the screen, or swipe the side of the watch to scroll through a list.
It is found that Google applied for this patent and the early years of HTC launched the “Edge Sense” function has similarities, this function allows users to press the middle frame of the phone, realize the quick start camera, quick screenshot and other functions.
