Google Maps to launch AR map feature Live View next week

0

Google is planning to introduce an augmented reality (AR) mapping feature called Live View for Google Maps that will allow smartphone users to more intuitively search for nearby restaurants, coffee shops and other venues.

Users can click the camera icon in the Google Maps search bar to enable the feature, and once enabled, users can see a lot of surrounding information, including stores, banks, ATMs, bars and more.

This feature in Google Maps also provides AR-based path navigation with clearer arrows to guide users to their nearest destinations. On the screen will also display some key information about these places, such as whether the bar is currently open, how much the per capita spending of restaurants, and the evaluation of these places by users, etc.

Google says users can click on a venue category to see what restaurants, bars, sweet stores, parks and transport stops are within walking distance, and this feature of Google Maps went into preview in September this year, and Google is now ready to roll it out to the public. Google will start rolling out the feature in London, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, San Francisco and Tokyo next week.
