Google Drive quietly caps the number of user documents, lifts after criticism

The foreign media Ars Technica recently found that Google from February sometime, quietly set up a user “creation limit” for Google Drive cloud drive, will limit the number of users to store documents to a maximum of 5 million.

According to feedback from users of the Reddit platform, both personal and business accounts will receive an error message if they upload more than that number.

Google said in a statement that the purpose of the limit is to prevent abuse, which they hope to ensure the stability and security of Google Drive, and that the number of affected users is very small. But that said, the biggest problem with this move is that some people may reach the maximum number of archives before they run out of storage capacity of their choice, thus attracting a lot of criticism from users.

Google Drive officials released another announcement, saying they were rolling back the change and would explore alternative methods to ensure a good experience for everyone. If changes need to be made, officials will communicate with users in advance.
