Google Authenticator adds support for cloud sync backup

0

The Google Authenticator app has gained a feature that people have been asking for for years: cloud sync backup. In the latest 4.0 release for Android and iOS, Google added this feature to make it even more secure and convenient.

Google Authenticator adds an extra layer of security to your online accounts by adding a second verification step when you sign in. This means that, in addition to entering your password, you’ll need to enter a verification code generated by the Google Authenticator app on your phone.

Attached is the content of this update:

Cloud sync support: Authenticator-generated codes for you are now synced to your Google Account and across all your devices. That way, even if you lose your phone, you can always get your verification codes.

Introducing new icons and artwork: The app has been updated with new icons and artwork for a more modern and user-friendly style

Improved user experience and visuals: The app is now easier to use and more visually appealing

Here’s how cloud sync works: The app will back up your two-factor authentication codes to your Google account. This means you won’t lose all your 2FA codes if you uninstall the app or lose access to the device it was installed. Just install the app on a different device and you can get back all your passwords.

Google Authenticator will still only work on one device, but just make sure you have a different 2FA method for your Google account so you don’t lose access to the app and your Google account at the same time.
