Google Android TV 13 finally available, only supports discontinued ADT-3 devices for now

While Android 13 debuted on smartphones and tablets back in August 2022, Google has been slow to bring the final update to TVs. Now, the official version of Android TV 13 is finally available, albeit with many limitations.

In a quiet update to its developer page, Google has officially rolled out Android TV 13 to actual hardware. Technically speaking, Android TV 13 was not even available for download on ADT-3 devices when Google announced its official launch late last year.

As of February 1 of this year, users with ADT-3 developer devices can download the update from Google. Google’s latest update is described as the final version of Android 13 for TV is now available.

The only device that can run this new version is still ADT-3, which was discontinued quite a while ago. According to the news, the ADT-4 product is likely to come out soon.

The Android TV 13 update includes mostly behind-the-scenes improvements, including changes for HDMI, input processing, audio, new accessibility features and more.

Android TV 13 is available for both the Android TV experience and Google TV, which is quickly becoming the default configuration for new hardware.
