GAC shares Space Concept; a massive hydrogen fuelled, all-grille face, gullwing door vehicle

Not even in the wildest dreams could anyone have thought that a car could have as large a grille as comes on the Space Concept Car revealed by GAC. The grille stands 50cm tall and is more than 2 meters in width. And we thought BMW’s latest models, the i4 M50 and the iX are sporting the largest grin in the market. The all-grille front fascia is bigger than those of BMW, Audi’s Singleframe grille or even Lexus’ spindle grille.

In fact, everything about this concept car comes grand. Firstly, the car is 6 meters long. Beyond the imposing front fascia are massive gull-wing doors not seen before in the industry. As the tailgate opens into a roof, an electrically deployable sofa slides out from within to offer the perfect set-up for some cool camping. Range Rover’s drop-down tailgate and the backrest option it offers falls pale in the face of the GAC space.

There is more space inside when the steering yoke retracts into the dashboard in those moments of the car using its level 4 autonomy. The front seats can turn around to the two-seat sofa rear row and with the B pillars being given away it constructs a luxurious lounge within the car.

The concept car is a hydrogen fuel cell powertrain that can offer more than 180 horsepower and 258 pound-feet (350 Newton-meters) of torque. The car can deliver a range of up to 403 miles (650 km). Filling the tank to full takes nothing more than three to five minutes comparable to a regular combustion engine car. The vehicle has certainly been designed as a luxury car that allows one to enjoy spectacular sceneries on the drive while relaxing in the comfort of a sofa.
