Future iPad updates: 14-inch version, Under-screen Face ID, OLED screen

Display analyst Ross Young today predicted that Apple plans to make a number of important upgrades to its iPad line in the next few years, including new 14-inch and 11-inch versions with OLED screens, as well as under-screen TrueDepth technology and foldable screens. Instead of using mini-LED technology, Young believes that the 14-inch iPad to be released early next year will continue to use the same LCD screen as the current iPad Air.

The 11-inch iPad Pro will continue to use the current technology, and Apple has no plans to upgrade the 11-inch iPad Pro to min-LED or Liquid Retina XDR.

Apple plans to upgrade the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro directly to OLED technology in 2024. Apple believes that the 11-inch OLED iPad Pro will sell more than the 12.9-inch OLED iPad Pro.

Young also said that under-screen TrueDepth technology, or under-screen face ID, will come to the iPad first, followed by iPhone. under-screen face ID is better applied on iPad because of the huge internal space.

At the same time, iPad sales are a bit lower, so demand can be met without creating a supply shortage. When the under-screen ID is successful on the iPad, it will make its way to the iPhone line.

Finally, Young thinks the foldable iPad will be the first to launch.
