A spokeswoman for the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) said the agency will not sue in time to block the $3.9 billion (currently about RMB 26.832 billion) deal (including debt), but that the investigation into the merger deal will continue.

The decision clears the way for Amazon to significantly expand its healthcare business and operate brick-and-mortar medical clinics, the U.S. media noted. Amazon has been investing in health care for years, including investments in online pharmacies and other health businesses.

The financials show that Amazon’s fourth-quarter net sales were $149.204 billion (currently about RMB 1.03 trillion), up 9 percent year-over-year, or 12 percent year-over-year excluding the impact of currency changes; net income was $278 million (currently about RMB 1.913 billion), down 98 percent year-over-year.
