Formula Motors: BYD Leopard 5 launch expected in November, selling price information is false

Formula Motors, a subsidiary of BYD, posted a post on its official Weibo yesterday, responding to some users’ recent “most concerned” questions about its first model, the Leopard 5.

According to officials, Leopard 5 benefits from the space utilization of the DMO super hybrid off-road platform. The rear passenger space and headroom are “far superior to products of the same level”. It supports the rear seats to be folded down, and suitable mattresses and mattresses have been developed. The airbag can be up to more than 1.9 meters in length and nearly 1.4 meters in width and can accommodate two people.

Regarding the launch and delivery of new cars, the official response stated that the first batch of stores across the country will start trial operations at the end of October, and real Leopard 5 cars will also arrive in stores one after another. The first batch of show cars will be non-Yunnan versions. The new car is expected to be officially launched in November, and orders will be placed in order. However, in terms of selling price, Formula only responded that “the official selling price has not been released yet” and the information circulated on the Internet is not true. The official selling price will be announced when it is launched.

In terms of configuration, Leopard 5 will be launched in three versions: Discovery Edition, Navigation Edition, and Cloud Ultimate Edition. Different versions will “have a certain degree of functionality and experience focused on configuration to better meet the diverse needs of different consumers.”

It was previously reported that the first mass-produced Formula Leopard 5 vehicle officially rolled off the assembly line on September 28. According to the official configuration information, the new car will be launched in three models: Explorer Edition, Pilot Edition, and Yunnan Flagship Edition. The length, width and height are 4890 (including spare tire) * 1970 * 1920mm, and the wheelbase is 2800mm.

In terms of power, Leopard 5 is equipped with BYD’s new hybrid platform DMO and Yunnan-p intelligent body control system, using 1.5T + dual motor power, as well as a three-lock classic off-road combination, and it is also a longitudinal engine.

Relying on the DMO platform, this model has a comprehensive maximum output of 505 kilowatts, a peak torque of 760N·m, an acceleration time of 0 to 100 seconds in 4.8 seconds, and a CLTC pure electric range of 125 kilometers.
