On September 8, Ford announced that it will launch a new pure electric van, the E-Transit Custom, in the European market.

Ford Pro has already sold more than 8,300 units of its first all-electric commercial van, the E-Transit Custom, one of four all-electric commercial models that Ford Pro plans to launch in Europe in 2024.

The E-Transit Custom features a 400-volt, 74-kilowatt-hour battery with 12 percent higher energy density than the E-Transit, a target range of 380 kilometers, and a heat pump air conditioning system as standard. Users can also choose between a 100 kW or 160 kW maximum output electric motor on demand, both of which offer 415 Nm of peak torque.

For charging, the E-Transit Custom is equipped with an 11 kW three-phase AC on-board charger, which can charge the vehicle in 7 to 8 hours, and a 125 kW DC fast charger, which can charge the vehicle from 15 to 80 percent in 41 minutes, with a 5-minute DC fast charge adding 38 km of range to the vehicle.

Ford says the vehicle’s cockpit can also be transformed into a small office with 5G network connectivity and a smart steering wheel that folds into an ergonomic laptop and tablet stand. In addition, the car has more than 30 separate modules that can be updated remotely via Ford Power-up.

The E-Transit Custom is also described as having a load capacity of 1.1 tons with an independent rear suspension system. Ford expects to put the E-Transit Custom into production at its plant in Kocaeli, Turkey, in the fall of 2023.
