Forbes releases AI 50 list for 2023: an AI company founded by a former OpenAI engineer.

Forbes has released its AI 50 list for 2023, identifying the 50 most promising unlisted companies using AI for business. The companies on the list received a total of $27.2 billion in funding. AlphaSense and Vectra AI have been operating for more than a decade, and the largest company on the list, Databricks, has more than 5,000 employees.

The list that Abnormal Security is an email security unicorn based in San Francisco. It uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to detect potential cyber attacks launched through email-based systems.

Adept, which ranks second, is working on a digital assistant with an artificial intelligence model designed to convert a text command into an action performed by a computer. The company’s founder, David Luan, was formerly vice president of engineering at OpenAI. Backed by strategic investors Microsoft and Nvidia, Adept announced a total funding round of $415 million.

Runway, a company specializing in image and video editing, was featured on the list, and Runway’s tools were used to build visual effects for some of the scenes in the movie “Transient Universe,” which won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
