Sony Honda Mobility (Sony Honda Mobility), a joint venture between Honda and Sony Auto, announced that its first model will start delivering in 2026.

The company is preparing to build the model at Honda’s North American plant, and it will go on sale in the U.S. in spring 2026.

The official said that the “preview version” of the car will be unveiled on the eve of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2023) in Las Vegas on January 4, 2023, and the first promotional video of the new car will be released.

Not much is revealed in the trailer, not even a few glimpses of the vehicle’s exterior, where the first part appears to be the hood and the second part may be the lower part of the door.

According to reports, Sony Honda Mobility will focus on three aspects: Autonomy, Augmentation and Affinity.

The model will be able to achieve limited L3 autonomous driving, which means it appears to be possible to briefly take your hands off the steering wheel and offer L2+ city assistance.

The official announcement says the model will feature a cloud-connected user interface that will provide “entertainment beyond driving” and an “integrated service framework” that runs from in-vehicle software to the cloud.

According to the company’s strategy, Sony Honda Mobile will start taking pre-orders for its first model in the first half of 2025, with sales starting by the end of that year. After the U.S. launch, deliveries to Japan will begin in the second half of 2026.

On June 16 this year, Honda announced that it had formally signed an agreement with Sony Group to establish a joint venture Sony Honda Mobility, which will sell “high business value-added” electric vehicles and provide travel services. At the same time, Sony President Kenichiro Yoshida revealed that the new car will use the technology on the PS5.
