In the latest edition of its Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that he expects Apple to launch the first Mac computer equipped with the next-generation M3 Apple Silicon homegrown chip by the end of this year or early 2024.

According to developer logs, Gurman also detailed what a Mac with the M3 family of chips might technically look like. His sources indicate that the M3 Pro chip being tested has 12 CPU cores, 18 GPU cores and 36GB of unified memory, and is expected to be used in the next generation of 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.

If true, the M3 Pro chip will have two more CPU cores and two more GPU cores, and 4GB more unified memory than the current M2 Pro chip.

In addition, Apple M3 series chips are expected to use the 3nm manufacturing process, which means that the performance of each core will also be improved, the overall performance improvement is not just 2 more cores.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also previously said that the next new MacBook Pro is expected to enter mass production in the first half of 2024 with M3 Pro and M3 Max chips, manufactured using the 3nm process (TSMC N3P or N3S).
