Firefox 120 Introduces New Tool: Identify Fake Reviews on E-Commerce Platforms

According to foreign technology media MSPowerUser report, Mozilla plans to release Firefox 120 browser on November 21, 2023, focusing on the introduction of Fakespot’s Review Checker tool for reviewing false reviews of e-commerce platforms such as Amazon.

Mozilla acquired Fakespot in May of this year. Note: Fakespot is a startup that helps users identify fake news through website and browser extensions, identifying fake reviews on Amazon, Yelp, TripAdvisor, Walmart, and eBay through an A to F rating.

The Review Checker tool uses AI to identify artificially generated or user-scrubbed reviews. Fakespot founder Saoud Khalifah said at the time of the acquisition that reviews are important to the online shopping experience because consumers often can’t touch the actual product before they shop for it, and need to rely on reviews for a multi-dimensional understanding.
