Firefox 115 releases the last version of Firefox browser that supports Windows 7/8

Mozilla today officially released Firefox 115 stable update, the most noteworthy point of this update is that this is the last version to support Win7 / Win8, macOS 10.12, 10.13 and 10.14.

Mozilla stated in the official changelog that

Microsoft ended support for Win7 and Win8 systems in January 2023, and today’s Firefox 115 release is the last update that users of these systems will receive.

Win7 and Win8 users will then be automatically migrated to Firefox ESR version 115 so that they continue to receive important security updates.

This is the last major version of Firefox to support Apple macOS 10.12, 10.13 and 10.14. Users of these operating systems will be migrated to the ESR 115 version of Firefox so that they continue to receive important updates.

The Firefox 115 update for the desktop is as follows:

  • Fix the Talkback accessibility feature.
  • Fixed the problem of the download progress bar for large files.
  • Fixed the problem of file name extension of downloaded files.

Updates to Firefox 115 for iOS:

  • Brought theme updates for Pocket branding, URL address bar and account settings page.
  • Added support for large text and adaptive fonts.
  • Fixed a bug in Tab focus and password biometrics.
  • Fixed truncated settings summary and touch ID text errors.
  • Fixed the issue that new tabs always open in regular mode.
  • Fixed an issue with the number of text in the URL bar when opening a new tab.
  • Fixed an issue with session recovery message handling.
  • Fixed many issues including warnings, zoom page improvements, cut-off of the onboarding button, correct home page icon, experiments with onboarding cards, and survey links.
