With at least 7 years of security support, more renders of the Fairphone 5 handset revealed

WinFuture has shared more renders of the Fairphone 5 phone and shared more specs of the phone.

The Fairphone 5 phone has appeared in the GeekBench score library, and its score page shows that the machine is equipped with 8GB of RAM, running Android 13, as well as the ARMv8 processor, and its specifications are as follows:

  • 1 core clocked at 2.71GHz
  • 3 cores clocked at 2.4GHz
  • 4 cores clocked at 1.96GHz

While the media has previously identified the processor as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G processor based on scores, WinFuture explains that it’s actually a Qualcomm QCM6490 chip, which is designed for industrial and embedded devices.

The media outlet said that the official reason for choosing this embedded processor is to provide long-term support, and the official hopes to provide at least 7 years of security support.

The outlet also shared more specs of the Fairphone 5 handset:

  • A 6.46-inch OLED screen with 2770*1224 resolution and 90Hz refresh rate.
  • 8GB of RAM
  • 256GB of storage
  • 2 x 50-megapixel rear cameras
  • 4200mAh battery
  • Support for Wi-Fi 6E networks and Bluetooth 5.2
  • IP55 water resistant

The outlet claims that the Fairphone 5 will be available on August 31 in sky blue, grey or transparent colours, and will feature a modular design that allows for easy access for subsequent maintenance.
