Europe approves Google’s acquisition of Croatian math app PhotoMath

The European Commission released a statement on March 28 local time saying that the EU antitrust regulator unconditionally approved Google’s acquisition of Croatian math app PhotoMath.

The European Commission said in a statement that the deal would not reduce competition in the market for “online homework and study aids, including math-themed services and general search services.

Photomath is a math learning app that allows users to take pictures of math problems and scan them to solve them, equations, logarithms, trigonometric functions, derivatives and integrals of exponential and logarithmic functions.

The Croatian company’s investors include Menlo Ventures, LearnCapital, Goodwater Capital, GSV Ventures and Cherubic, which learned that Google reached an agreement to acquire Photomath in May last year.
