Google reached a three-year agreement with Activision Blizzard King (ABK) Inc. in January 2020, Epic Games court documents show. In the agreement, Google agreed to pay the latter a huge fee of $360 million so that the latter would not create a competing app store.
This court filing came to light in a lawsuit against Google by Epic Games, whose most successful game is Activision Blizzard King’s Candy Crush Saga, a casual game that is popular with many players around the world.
Epic Games is arguing that Google’s Play Store app store is anti-competitive by paying a large fee to prevent ABK from creating a competitive app store.
