Elon Musk reportedly said in a post on Twitter that he would soon allow organizations and institutions to authenticate Twitter accounts associated with himself. The reason is that Elon Musk has found that many fake accounts are popping up on the Twitter platform.
Elon Musk said, “It’s coming soon, and Twitter will allow organizations to authenticate other Twitter accounts that are actually associated with them.”
Elon Musk had previously hastily launched a paid Blue V certification service for $8 a month, but Twitter called it off on Friday due to the proliferation of fake accounts. Since the launch of the new service, a number of fake Blue V accounts posing as big brands have hit the Twitter platform, with SpaceX, Roblox, Nestle and Lockheed Martin all falling victim.
But Elon Musk said that the $8-a-month “TwitterBlue” service could be back by the end of the week. Last Thursday, Elon Musk warned that Twitter could go bankrupt.
The latest news shows that Twitter has already laid off 4,400 of its 5,500 contract workers. Some believe the mass layoffs will obviously affect content review and core infrastructure services.
