Beijing, May 24 evening news, Tesla CEO Elon Musk reportedly said Tuesday at a CEO summit held in London, before the mass layoffs at Twitter, many of the company’s employees are doing something that does not have much value.

Elon Musk added: “It’s probably true of many Silicon Valley companies, but maybe not as bad as Twitter.” Elon Musk further explained, “Twitter was in a situation where if there were 10 people in a meeting, only 1 person was on the gas and 9 people were on the brakes, so it couldn’t go very far.”

Elon Musk also added that other large tech companies can make further cuts without affecting productivity. Elon Musk also revealed at the summit that Twitter currently has about 1,500 employees, which is a more reasonable number.

But two people familiar with the matter previously said that the number of full-time employees at Twitter is actually closer to 1,000. By the end of 2021, Twitter will have more than 7,500 employees. But just a week after the successful acquisition of Twitter last October, Elon Musk fired about half of his staff. Since then, thousands more people have been fired or voluntarily resigned.

But Elon Musk said Tuesday that Twitter plans to re-increase the number of employees as the company moves toward being cash flow positive. With any luck, we could be cash flow positive next month,” he said. At that point, we’ll start adding staff to the company.”

Elon Musk also noted that some hiring has in fact already begun. Elon Musk previously hinted in a media interview that Twitter might rehire some of its previously fired employees.
