Elon Musk: Tesla is making progress on Steam integration and will be demoed in August

The Tesla car tablet can play about 20 games, including “Tea Cup Head,” and in February this year, Tesla CEO Musk said he hopes to play tens of thousands of games on the Steam platform on the Tesla tablet, and now this goal is getting closer. Musk recently tweeted that integrated Steam has made very good progress, and it will probably be on demo display in August.

The August showcase is likely to debut some big games that require a high graphics card to showcase Tesla’s strong gaming capabilities.

In fact, Tesla has a team of engineers working on games in Seattle, USA, and they recently set up a similar team in Austin, Texas. Tesla has a gaming platform called Tesla Arcade built into the in-car tablet and is currently working with game studios to port the latter’s games to the platform.

For now, Tesla is mainly creating some added value to the user experience, but Tesla may have bigger plans for in-car gaming and may make it a dedicated business.

Tesla CEO Musk recently said that he believes “entertainment will be critical when the car is self-driving,” and he thinks Tesla will be self-driving later this year.

With the unveiling of the new Model S and Model X, Tesla unveiled a new gaming computer in the car with up to 10TF of computing power, comparable to the performance of today’s recent game consoles, and wireless joystick compatibility allowing users to play games from any seat.

According to rumors, Tesla’s in-car gaming chip features an AMD Navi 23 GPU. The system is integrated and connected directly to two touchscreens inside the Model S and Model X to play games, watch entertainment and perform a number of other functions.

At last year’s Computex Taipei, AMD CEO confirmed that they are working with Tesla to provide the latter with Raidon APUs and RDNA2 architecture GPUs with up to 10TF of computing power, capable of running 3A games comparable to today’s consoles such as PS5.

Musk also revealed that the new computer has more storage space and can handle more games on the platform at the same time.
