Elon Musk: If General Motors insisted on making electric cars, there would be no Tesla

According to Benzinga reports, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said at the Viva Tech conference in Paris recently that the reason why Tesla is today is that General Motors (GM) After launching the EV1, the world’s first modern electric car, in the late 1990s, it failed to keep doing it.

Elon Musk said bluntly at the meeting: “I look forward to EV2, EV3 and other follow-up models. If they do, there will be no need for Tesla.”

However, Elon Musk said that GM recalled all EV1s and shredded them in a junkyard for reasons that remain unclear. Elon Musk emphasized that customers liked the car so much that he even went to the junkyard to hold a candlelight vigil for them: “It’s like someone was killed. If someone held such an event because they liked your product very much, maybe You should do more.”

Elon Musk said that if GM produced more electric vehicles, they would be the leader in electric vehicles today, but they did not do so, so the market has demand for Tesla.

It was previously reported that General Motors and Ford have decided to adopt the North American charging standard NACS adopted by Tesla, which will allow nearly 70% of electric vehicle owners in the United States to use the same charging standard.
