Irdeto recently announced that Denuvo encryption will support Nintendo Switch games. Irdeto will launch the “Denuvo Nintendo Switch Protection” tool to prevent pirated game ROMs from running in the Switch emulator. Irdeto said Switch games can be used in the form of ROMs on the Switch emulator on the PC, and even the game has just been released to extract, so that developers suffer huge losses.

And Denuvo Nintendo Switch Protection seamlessly and automatically integrates into the Switch game developer build toolchain to detect differences in the way a game behaves compared to its design goals. In this way, Denuvo encryption can determine if a game has been tampered with and make it unplayable.

According to Edenred, in the future, trying to run Switch games for free via ROM form with the help of Switch emulators It will become very difficult. Of course the Switch emulator is not completely banned, just like the original Switch players pay for the game, you can continue to play in the emulator.

The company did not release specific information about the “Denuvo Nintendo Switch Protection” tool, but only said that developers can contact the company if they need the tool.

Denuvo encryption has been controversial, and while it prevents piracy to a certain extent, it may affect game performance. Although Edible claims that Denuvo encryption has no effect on the Switch gaming experience, players still don’t believe this rhetoric.

It is worth mentioning that Denuvo encryption also landed on the PS5 platform last year.
