Creative Technology recently introduced the new Sound Blaster Katana V2X bar, priced at $419. Designed for gaming, the bar offers the same great audio capabilities of the Katana family, but with a redesign that makes it more compact and portable in your pocket.

The Sound Blaster Katana V2X soundbar is a stripped-down version of the V2, which has been rated very highly in several media reviews. Windows Central calls it “the best soundbar for gaming right now,” and VentureBeat says it’s “your best PC upgrade to buy”; in GameRadar+ review, it’s “good for PC gaming and all A great soundbar for other media”.

The Sound Blaster Katana V2X is still a multichannel 5.1 setup, but this time with fewer bass channels. It’s now 40 percent slimmer, weighs 7.3 pounds and measures an impressive 4.6 x 9.8 x 16.7 inches. This should free up a fair amount of space for anyone with a cramped desk setup

A cluttered desktop or TV console may not be every gamer’s cup of tea – the Sound Blaster Katana V2X frees up valuable space with a subwoofer that’s 40% smaller than its predecessor. 180 W of peak power output is perfect for gaming setups in smaller rooms. That said, audio quality is always kept at the forefront.

The bar retains the familiar sonic signature of a high-end Sound Blaster, delivering high-fidelity multichannel audio through acclaimed tri-amplified Xamp technology, where Creative’s proprietary multi-core DSP controller powers the tweeter, midrange and subwoofer drivers separately.

Super X-Fi Headset Holographic Technology is an award-winning technology that reproduces the soundstage of a high-end multi-speaker system in a headset, perfect for late-night gaming sprees without disturbing the neighbors.

Avid FPS gamers gain an edge in enemy spots with a special in-game audio mode. SXFI Combat Mode enhances audio cues during combat, including directionality and distance, while Recon Mode focuses on sound detection so opponents can be heard before they are seen moving across the screen.

The cinematic experience is not limited to gaming – with the integrated Dolby Audio decoder, users can enjoy Sound Blaster Katana V2X on streaming platforms such as Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime at the same time.

When connected to the Creative app, users can make the bar their own by customizing the audio and selecting their favorite RGB lighting patterns through the Acoustic Engine suite. These settings can be saved as a custom profile on the app or programmable buttons on the remote.
