CoreAVI to Provide Automotive-Grade Graphics Driver Support for Imagination IMG BXS GPUs

0

CoreAVI will bring advanced safety-critical drivers to PowerVR GPUs, starting with the IMG B-Series. CoreAVI will provide graphics driver support for IMG BXS GPUs to enable next-generation safety-critical applications for automotive platforms. Customers will be able to accelerate product deployment with more robust API support.

CoreAVI’s Vulkan-based safety-critical GPU-accelerated driver – VkCore SC is designed for high performance and flexibility requirements and is ISO 26262 ASIL D certified. The driver supports Imagination B-series GPUs, enabling developers to seamlessly migrate safety-critical software stacks between different silicon implementations, greatly improving flexibility and scalability while reducing the total cost of ownership for safety systems cost.

The VkCore GL SC1 and VkCoreGL SC2 OpenGL SC 1 and OpenGL SC 2 libraries running on VkCore SC enable integrators to develop with OpenGL while enjoying the benefits of the Vulkan API. VkCore SC is also supported by TrueCore, a GPU safety monitor, and ComputeCore, a set of algorithms for accelerating vector and matrix math operations. VkCore SC is the foundation of CoreAVI’s safety-critical application platform, addressing the needs of any safety graphics and computing application across all market verticals.

Imagination has automotive-grade GPUs, AI and connectivity solutions for secure Human Machine Interface (HMI) computing and graphics. Imagination’s GPUs enable more powerful ADAS( Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) applications in a scalable multi-core design, suitable for compute-intensive scenarios that need to process real-time automotive sensor data.

The IMG B-Series offers up to 6 TFLOPS (teraflops of floating-point operations per second) of computing power with up to 30 percent lower power consumption, 25 percent smaller area and 2.5 times higher fill rate than previous generations. The IMG BXS GPU family is more safety-focused, taking the standard BXT, BXM and BXE configurations but adding support for ISO 26262 / ASIL-B functional safety features. The Tile Region Protection feature marks a configurable region of rendered tiles on a rendered frame as safety-critical and can be checked by the GPU for proper execution and rendering.
