China’s new energy vehicle production and sales in July were 617,000 units and 593,000 units respectively, both up 1.2 times year-on-year

August 11, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) released a brief description of July 2022 automobile industry production and sales, data show that in July, automobile production and sales were completed 2.455 million units and 2.42 million units, down 1.8% and 3.3%, respectively, year-on-year growth of 31.5% and 29.7%. From January to July, automobile production and sales were completed 145.771 million units and 144.777 million units, respectively. Production increased by 0.8% year on year, while sales decreased by 2% year on year.

In July, the production and sales of new energy vehicles completed 617,000 and 593,000 units respectively, an increase of 1.2 times year-on-year. Among them, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles completed 472,000 and 457,000 units, an increase of 1 time and 1.1 times respectively; the production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles completed 144,000 and 135,000 units, an increase of 1.8 20 times and 1.7 times respectively; the production and sales of fuel cell vehicles completed 292 10 and 245 units, an increase of 4.6 times and 13.4% respectively. From January to July, the production and sales of new energy vehicles completed 3.279 million units and 3.194 million units respectively, both up 1.2 times year-on-year. Among them, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles were completed 2.574 million and 2.518 million, an increase of 1 time; plug-in hybrid vehicle production and sales were completed 702,000 and 674,000, an increase of 1.9 times and 1.7 times; fuel cell vehicle production and sales were completed 2.094 and 1.633, an increase of 2.1 times and 1.3 times respectively.

In July, auto companies exported 290,000 units, a record high, with the export volume increasing by 16.5% YoY and 67% YoY. By model, passenger cars exported 242,000 units this month, up 22% YoY and 73.1% YoY; commercial vehicles exported 49,000 units, down 5.1% YoY and up 42.2% YoY. From January to July, automotive enterprises exported 1.509 million units, up 50.6% year-on-year, and the annual export is expected to exceed 2.4 million units, in line with the expectations at the beginning of the year. By model, passenger car exports 1.186 million units, up 54% year-on-year; commercial vehicle exports 322,000 units, up 39.2%.

The CCA data show that in July, China’s power battery installation volume of 24.2GWh, an increase of 114.2% year-on-year, a decline of 10.5%. From January to July, the cumulative installed capacity of China’s power batteries was 134.3 GWh, an increase of 110.6% year on year. Among them, ternary batteries accounted for 55.4GWh, or 41.3% of the total installed base, up 55.7% year-on-year; lithium iron phosphate batteries accounted for 78.7GWh, or 58.6% of the total installed base, up 180.9% year-on-year, showing a rapid growth momentum.
