China Unicom: H1 revenue of 176.26 billion yuan up 7.4% year-on-year, 5G package users reached 180 million

China Unicom announced today on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that in the first half of 2022, the company’s operating income reached 176.26 billion yuan, up 7.4% year-on-year; the company’s net profit reached 10.96 billion yuan, up 1.79 billion yuan year-on-year.

Basic earnings per share were RMB 0.358, an increase of 19.5% year-on-year. In the first half of 2022, the Company’s EBITDA was RMB 51.41 billion, an increase of 3.9% year-on-year, and EBITDA as a percentage of service revenue was 31.9%, a decrease of 1.4 percentage points year-on-year.

In the first half of 2022, China Unicom achieved RMB 84.9 billion in mobile service revenue, up 3.4 percent year-on-year, and reached 320 million mobile subscribers, including a net increase of 29.99 million 5G package subscribers to 184.92 million, with 5G package penetration reaching 58 percent, further optimizing the subscriber structure.

Mobile subscriber ARPU was RMB44.4, stable compared to the same period last year. The company achieved significant traffic release, with total mobile internet traffic increasing by 13.4% and the average monthly data traffic of mobile users reaching approximately 13.3GB.

The Company’s fixed-line broadband business achieved broadband access revenue of RMB23 billion in the first half of the year, up 4.3% year-on-year and 3.6 percentage points from 0.7% in the same period last year. The number of broadband access subscribers increased by a net 4.4 million, reaching a total of 99.44 million, a record high for the same period in the past decade, and the convergence penetration rate reached 73%.

Industrial Internet revenue reached RMB 36.9 billion, up 31.8% from the same period last year, contributing over 70% of new revenue. Among them, Unicom Cloud revenue doubled to RMB18.7 billion, an increase of 143.2% year-on-year.
