ChatGPT custom commands are now available to all users to build their own chatbot

0

ChatGPT launched a new feature last month called Custom Instructions. This function allows users to set some specific rules and conditions for the robot to control the behavior and output of the robot. For example, users can specify that the bot can only speak a certain language, answer a certain type of question, generate content in a certain format, and so on.

It is noticed that this function was originally only available to paid users of ChatGPT Plus, but ChatGPT announced on August 10 that the custom command function is being opened to all users for free. This means anyone can use this feature to customize their own chatbot, including free users.

This feature saves users time by not having to rewrite the same command prompt every time they interact with the chatbot. For example, users can ask ChatGPT to keep answers to a certain character count or customize the tone of responses. OpenAI also gave an example that if teachers use ChatGPT to develop lesson plans, through the custom instruction function, they no longer need to constantly repeat that they are third grade teachers.

Meanwhile, developers using the feature can ask chatbots to provide responses in their preferred language or exclude languages they don’t want.

Additionally, OpenAI notes that custom commands are now available even with chat history turned off. To use the Custom Instructions feature, first click on your username and select “Custom Instructions”.

OpenAI says the feature will soon be available in the European Union and the United Kingdom.
