CATL EV Battery Installed Volume Remains No. 1 in the World, BYD Jumps to No. 2

According to foreign media reports, with the increase in demand for electric vehicles, the demand for the key component of batteries is also increasing, according to data from research institutions, in the first two months of this year, the global installed base of electric vehicle batteries was about 75.2 GWh, an increase of 39%.

Specifically in terms of manufacturers, the agency’s data shows that CATL, which has ranked No. 1 in the world for many months in a row, is still the highest newly installed EV battery manufacturer in the first two months of this year, with 25.5 GWh newly installed in two months, up 34% year-on-year, accounting for 33.9% of the share.

After CATL, BYD, which has adopted a large number of blade batteries, installed 13.7 GWh of EV batteries in the first two months of the year, up 122.6% year-on-year, and increased its share to 18.2%, overtaking LG New Energy and jumping to the second place.

LG New Energy, which retired to No. 3, had a 13.3% share in the first two months of the year. At No. 4, Panasonic, a long-time supplier of batteries to Tesla, installed 4.1 GWh of new electric vehicle batteries in the first two months of the year, up 47.6% year-over-year, with a 5.5% share.

At No. 5 and No. 6 are South Korean manufacturers SK On and Samsung SDI, with the former installing 4.1 GWh of new batteries and the latter increasing 57.2% year-over-year to 3.7 GWh, with a 4.9% share of the installed base.
