In the field of imaging business, in terms of interchangeable lens digital cameras, Canon said that the sales of new products such as the full-frame micro camera EOS R6 Mark II released last year and the EOS R50 and EOS R100 released in the first half of this year have continued to grow. RF lens sales are firm. In terms of network cameras, strong market demand and diversified applications have supported this product line to achieve revenue growth. To sum up, the revenue in this area increased by 8.7% year-on-year in this quarter, reaching 220.7 billion yen.
In the medical business field, revenue in this quarter increased by 5.0% year-on-year to 132.4 billion yen.
In the industrial equipment and other product business fields, in terms of semiconductor exposure equipment, related demand, mainly in the power equipment field, continues to be strong, and the number of units sold has increased significantly year-on-year. However, affected by market fluctuations in FPD exposure equipment, revenue in this field fell 9.4% year-on-year to 78.8 billion yen.
Canon said it expects that in the second half of 2023, downside risks from global geopolitical risks and continued inflation leading to global monetary tightening will still exist. But on the other hand, the unemployment rate and income situation in the United States and Japan will improve, so the overall world economy will show a recovery trend.
In terms of interchangeable lens digital cameras, there will be a large-scale promotion season in the fourth quarter, and Canon expects the overall market to continue to rise.
