According to the latest data from Canalys, global shipments of personal smart audio devices fell by 26% to 110 million units in the fourth quarter of 2022. Shipments of all categories are facing mixed downward trends, and even the TWS category, which has been supporting the market, suffered a 23% double-digit decline to 79 million units.

Canalys said that the top five manufacturers of TWS, except for OPPO, have all experienced different declines. Although Apple experienced a 30% decline, mainly due to the excessive shipment base of the delayed release of new earphones in the fourth quarter of last year, it still helped Apple maintain its first market share this year with the strong performance of its second-generation AirPods Pro.

Samsung (including the Harman subsidiary) remained in second place, but its shipments fell by 24%. Despite the launch of the new Galaxy Buds2 Pro last quarter, its shipments were still dominated by the Galaxy Buds2.

Xiaomi fell 49% year-on-year and ranked third. After streamlining its product line, it is currently focusing on consolidating the low-end market through the Redmi series, while its Xiaomi series has not yet rolled out.

The local Indian manufacturer boAt ranked fourth with a market share of 4%, but its growth rate fell by 15% year-on-year for the first time, showing that the current market demand in the Indian market has reached its peak.

OPPO (including OnePlus) ranked fifth with a market share of 3%, mainly helped by the excellent performance of its sub-brand OnePlus in the Indian market.

In terms of the domestic market, the top five TWS shipments in the fourth quarter of 2022 are Apple (19%), Edifier (13%), Xiaomi (11%), Huawei (10%) ), and OPPO (8%).
