According to Chedi, BYD’s Seal Honor Edition will be launched on March 25. The new car will most likely continue BYD’s previous idea of “increasing configurations and reducing prices”. While adding some configurations, the threshold for entry is lowered.

Note: Unless otherwise specified, “Seal” below refers to the pure electric version of the Seal EV model.

The current BYD Seal model on sale is the “Champion Edition”, which is available in 5 different configurations and has an official guide price of 189,800-279,800 RMB. Not long ago, a new Seal model appeared in the latest application catalog of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, offering 170kW single motor, 230kW single motor and 390kW dual motor options.

The Seal declared this time is 4800mm long, 1875mm wide, 1460mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2920mm, which is consistent with the old model. It uses BYD’s own lithium iron phosphate battery, and the specific capacity is unknown.

There are three new car models that have passed the declaration, namely:

BYD7006BEVA6: 170kW single motor, curb weight 1950kg

BYD7006BEVA10: 230kW single motor, curb weight 2080kg

BYD7006BEVA8: 390kW dual motors, curb weight 2210kg

For reference, the 2023 Seal Champion Edition models offer the following configuration options:

550km elite model: 150kW single motor, 61.4kWh battery, curb weight 1885kg, guide price 189,800

550km premium model: 150kW single motor, 61.4kWh battery, curb weight 1885kg, guide price 202,800

700km premium model: 170kW single motor, 82.5kWh battery, curb weight 2015kg, guide price 222,800

700km performance version: 230kW single motor, 82.5kWh battery, curb weight 2015kg, guide price 239,800

650km four-wheel drive performance version: 390kW dual motors, 82.5kWh battery, curb weight 2150kg, guide price 279,800

The vehicle weight and motor configuration of the new model have changed compared to the 2023 model. BYD is expected to adjust the power system configuration combination of the 2024 model.

On February 29 this year, BYD launched the Seal DM-i Honor Edition, with a price range of 149,800-219,800 RMB.

The overall design of the new car continues that of the models on sale, and some models are upgraded to provide 360 panoramic images, ACC adaptive cruise control, AEB automatic emergency braking, ELKA emergency lane keeping assist, front seat ventilation and heating, 50W mobile phone wireless charging and other configurations.
