With the growth in sales of electric vehicles, the installed battery capacity has doubled. According to market research firm SNE Research, BYD jumped to second place in the global electric vehicle battery market in July this year, surpassing South Korea’s LG, as demand for new energy vehicles surged in China.

According to statistics, BYD’s battery sales reached 6.4GWh in July this year, second only to Ningde Time’s 13.3GWh, while LG Energy and Japan’s Panasonic ranked third and fourth globally, with battery sales of 4.4GWh and 2.9GWh respectively.

In total, global battery sales rose to 39.7GWh in July, up 80% year-on-year.

It is understood that in the top ten power companies, in addition to Ningde Time’s year-on-year growth rate of 95%, other Chinese companies are close to 200% growth in installed capacity, while the Japanese and Korean counterparts are not more than 70% increase.

In the field of lithium battery power, ternary lithium batteries and lithium iron phosphate batteries show “two worlds”.

Not long ago, BYD said on the interactive platform, the company’s new energy passenger car models have achieved the entire system equipped with blade batteries.

Information shows that on March 29, 2020, BYD launched its self-researched new lithium iron phosphate battery “blade battery”.

Compared with ternary lithium batteries, the blade battery has the advantages of high safety, long cycle life, low cost, etc., and BYD “Han” is the first model equipped with the blade battery.
