The BYD Seal Champion Edition will be launched on May 10. It is reported that the new car will optimize the seal design, configuration details and configuration gradients based on market feedback and user needs.
In March of this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the 369th batch of “Road Motor Vehicle Manufacturers and Product Announcements” new product announcements, including a model that is suspected to be the Seal Champion Edition. Equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 170kW, the power performance is between the existing 550km standard endurance rear-drive version and the 700km long-endurance rear-drive version. This model has a good balance in terms of price, configuration, battery life, efficiency and performance.
Referring to some practices of BYD’s previous champion models, the seal champion version may have some changes in color matching and interior materials, for example, it may provide dark-toned interiors that the market expects. In terms of smart configuration, referring to BYD’s recently launched new car models, the NFC car key of the Seal Champion Edition may support both Android and iOS dual systems. In addition, the light-sensitive canopy previously used as an option may become the standard configuration of the 650km four-wheel drive performance version of the Seal Champion Edition, and the “Super iTAC Intelligent Torque Control System” may also appear on the new car.
BYD’s sales in April were 210,295 units, of which passenger car sales reached 209,467 units, a year-on-year increase of 98.6%. The sales volume of Seals was 6,212, which is a significant decline compared to the peak period of more than 15,000. It remains to be seen whether the championship version can increase its competitiveness this time.
